September 22, 2026, 79, Goldsboro-Albert Theodore “Andy” Anders, Jr., 79, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at his home. Born in Pennsylvania on May 16, 1947, he was the son of the late Albert Theodore Anders, Sr. and Ann Leone Anders.
In addition to his parents, Andy was preceded in death by his son, Andy Kevin Anders and brother, Danny Anders.
Andy is survived by his wife, Cathy Williams Anders; daughter, Michele Anders; grandchildren; Erica Anders, Chance Anders, Kevin Young, and Christopher Young; sister, JoAnn Anders; and several nephews.
Andy lived a life marked by service, dedication, and a genuine love for the people and things that mattered most to him. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he worked as a firefighter with the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Fire Department. His commitment to helping others continued long after his military service, as he served with the Mar-Mac Volunteer Fire Department, the Goldsboro Rescue Squad, and the Mount Olive Rescue Squad. Through each of these roles, Andy demonstrated his willingness to answer the call when others needed help.
Following his years of service, Andy retired from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, where he worked as a detention officer. His career was a reflection of the dependable and hardworking man he was, always willing to serve and protect his community.
Outside of his work and service, Andy had a passion for the open road and all things automotive. He had a special love for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and enjoyed the freedom and camaraderie that came with riding. He also loved working on cars, with his collection of El Caminos holding a special place in his heart. Over the years, he owned and worked on several of them, making each one a reflection of his personality and passion for automobiles. Andy was a proud member of the Southland Car Club, where he enjoyed sharing his love of cars with others who shared the same enthusiasm.
One of Andy’s greatest and longest-lasting passions was pool. For an incredible 47 years, he played pool every day, making it far more than a hobby—it was a cherished part of his life. The friendships, competition, and countless hours spent around the pool table became an important part of the memories he leaves behind.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Seymour Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Andy’s life will follow the visitation at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Stovall officiating. Military honors will conclude the service.
