GOLDSBORO, N.C. — The Goldsboro Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest in connection with a trash container fire that occurred earlier this month.
According to police, on Sept. 14, 2026, at approximately 5:25 a.m., an unknown individual or individuals set fire to a large trash container in the 200 block of Day Circle in Goldsboro.
Investigators are seeking to identify a person of interest described as a Black male wearing a Philadelphia Eagles shirt and a green hat. The individual was also reportedly carrying a blue and green bag.
Authorities are asking anyone who recognizes the individual or has information about the incident to contact Wayne County Communications at 919-705-6572 and ask to speak with Investigator R.R. Gardner.

The investigation remains ongoing.
