GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A 37-year-old Goldsboro woman has been arrested in connection with a series of suspicious trashcan fires reported at multiple locations throughout the city.
According to the Goldsboro Police Department, the Investigative Services Bureau and Goldsboro Fire Department began investigating the fires on Sept. 15, 2026, after discovering that City of Goldsboro trashcans had been set on fire in the 100 block of Lionel Street and the 100 block of Patrick Street.
The investigation led authorities to secure warrants against Laketta Shawntell Williams, 37, of Goldsboro, on Sept. 17.
On Sept. 21, police and fire personnel responded to another incident involving trashcans being set on fire in the 500 block of East Ash Street. Investigators subsequently secured an additional warrant against Williams in connection with that incident.
On Wednesday, Sept. 23, Goldsboro police officers responded to a trespassing complaint at 104 S. Center St., where they made contact with Williams and took her into custody.
Williams was served with her outstanding warrants and received a $3,000 secured bond.
The City of Goldsboro was identified as the victim in the investigation.
