GOLDSBORO, N.C. — This week’s Pet of the Week, powered by Jackson & Sons, introduces Hera, a beautiful black cat who has been waiting far too long for someone to give her a place to call home.

Hera is a 2-year-old female Domestic Shorthair mix currently available through Wayne County Animal Services. She is medium-sized with a sleek black coat — and she’s ready for her chance to leave shelter life behind.

Hera arrived at Wayne County Animal Services on April 7, 2026, meaning she has now spent more than five months waiting for the right person or family to notice her.

At just over 2 years old, Hera is still a young cat with plenty of life ahead of her. What she needs now is someone willing to open their heart and home and give her the opportunity to become part of a family.
