September 10, 2026, 53, – Christopher Daniel Lewis, 53, passed away suddenly on Friday, September 10, 2026, at UNC Wayne Health Care in Goldsboro. Born in Wayne County on December 2, 1972, Chris was raised by his late parents, Sandra Kay Lewis Hope and Linwood Allen Hope.
Chris was a hardworking man who found purpose in providing for his family and serving others through his work. He owned and operated Chris’ Lawn Care Service, where he worked with many rental companies throughout Goldsboro and the surrounding area. Through his dedication and dependable nature, he became a familiar and valued presence to those he served.
Chris enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He especially loved watching NASCAR racing and listening to the music of Elvis Presley. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family. Whether sharing a conversation, enjoying a familiar song, or simply being together, those ordinary moments held a special place in his heart.
Chris will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love for his family, and the simple, meaningful life he lived. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Chris is survived by his wife, Debra Gurganus Lewis; daughter, Melissa Joyce Wiggs and husband, Brandon; son, Landon Christopher Lewis; grandchildren, Brandon Wiggs and Bentley Wiggs; step-son, Tyler James Rowe and wife, Brianna; step-grandchildren, Jaxon Rowe and Kaysleigh Rowe; brothers, Michael Wayne Hope and Linwood Alvin Hope; special aunt, Barbara Millard; and several special cousins whom he loved very much.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 16, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Chris’ life will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel, with Pastor Jeff Toler officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to help the family with funeral expenses at Seymour Funeral Home.
