September 6, 2026, 60, Goldsboro – Thomas Sawyer Vick, Jr., 60, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, September 6, 2026. Born in Wayne County on July 1, 1966, he was the son of Thomas Sawyer Vick, Sr. and Victoria Elizabeth Cox Vick.
Thomas was a proud 1984 graduate of Goldsboro Christian School, where he enjoyed playing basketball. He continued his education at Mount Olive College, graduating in 1988 with a degree in Business Administration.
Following college, Thomas began his career with First Citizens Bank. He later followed his passion for communication into radio, first working with WFMC in Goldsboro and later serving as an announcer and broadcaster of local news with WGBR. He also spent a short time working with Wayne County Public Schools.
Music was one of the great loves of Thomas’s life. He served as church pianist at St. Paul Methodist Church in Goldsboro and Pine Level Pentecostal Holiness Church, where his gifts of playing and singing blessed many. For years, he shared his musical talents with local groups, including the Southern Ambassadors, Dakota Rain, and Seaside Band. He was also frequently asked to play for other churches and weddings. Whether behind a piano, singing with friends, or sharing his music with a congregation, Thomas brought joy to those around him.
Above all, Thomas cherished his family. His wife fondly remembered falling in love with her tall, dark-haired, blue-eyed man, and he remained the love of her life. He adored his children, Ashley and Aaron, but his grandchildren held a particularly special place in his heart. To his family, Thomas will forever be remembered as a loving son, devoted husband, wonderful father, and cherished Papa.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kim Evans Vick; his daughter, Ashley Vick; his son, Aaron Vick; his grandchildren, Kaylin Vick, Roxson Vick, and Miles Vick; his parents, Vicky and Thomas Vick; his sister, Pam Vick Meyer and husband, Chuck; his mother-in-law, Shelia Eanes and husband, Randall; his brother-in-law, Tommy Evans and wife, Becky; and his nieces and nephews, Charles Michael Meyer, Dakota Evans, Amber Evans, and Justin Evans.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Elizabeth Cox and William and Robena Vick.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Thomas’s life will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel, with Rev. Barry Williamson and Rev. Barry Stallings officiating. Interment will be in the Grady Family Cemetery in Seven Springs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Seymour Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses.
