MOUNT OLIVE, NC — The University of Mount Olive men’s soccer team generated several early scoring opportunities Wednesday evening but was unable to find the back of the net in a 4-0 non-conference loss to Anderson University at Amon Field.
The Trojans came out on the attack, recording six shots and putting four on goal during the opening half. Mount Olive also earned six corner kicks as it pressured the Anderson defense.
Haythem Abraham led the Trojans with three first-half shots, including two on target, while Kevin Jimenez added two shots on goal.
In net, Kingston Ouellette helped keep Mount Olive within striking distance, finishing the match with seven saves, including several stops on Anderson scoring opportunities.
Anderson found the net twice during the opening half to take a 2-0 advantage into halftime. The visitors added two more goals after the break to secure the 4-0 victory.
With the loss, Mount Olive falls to 1-2-0 on the season, while Anderson improves to 4-0-1.
The Trojans will look to bounce back Saturday when they travel to face Belmont Abbey. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
