GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A Pikeville man is facing multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder, following an Aug. 28 shooting that prompted two Goldsboro schools to temporarily go into lockdown.
According to the Goldsboro Police Department, officers responded to the 1100 block of Devereaux Street after receiving a ShotSpotter alert.
As a precaution, Dillard Middle School and Carver Heights Elementary School were placed on lockdown while officers secured the area. Police said the lockdown was implemented to protect students and staff.
Investigators worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the gunfire and developed 31-year-old Brandon Graham of Pikeville as a suspect. Police said Graham later turned himself in at the Magistrate’s Office and was taken into custody without incident.
Graham is charged with attempted first-degree murder, discharging a weapon into occupied property or a vehicle, discharging a firearm within city limits, going armed to the terror of the people and misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.
He was given a $1 million secured bond.
Police identified the victim as 50-year-old Demetric Davis of Goldsboro.
