August 20, 2026, 88, Goldsboro – Reddick “Rex” Stancill, 88, of the Saulston community departed this walk of life, Thursday, August 20, 2026 peacefully in his home with loved ones.
Mr. Stancill was born at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC on May 12, 1938 to the late Rederick Alonzo Stancill and Anna Catherine Norman. Rex and his beloved wife, Rannette Stancill, retired to NC in 2003. They were very active in the Mil’s Manor neighborhood, members of the Mt. Olive Southeastern NC Chapter car club, and loved attending The First Church for Pastor Bill Rose’s inspiring services.
Rex is survived by his loving family including two daughters Tasha Stancill and husband, Jimmy Miller of Washington DC; Stacey Carter and husband, Jimmy Carter of West Virginia; one son Raymond Kirk Jonus and wife, Jima Jonus of Alabama; one sister; Donna Mullins of Arlington, VA; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stancill was preceded in death by his wife, Rannette Stancill, his sister Carolyn Pillow of Houston, Texas and his brother Ralph Stancil of Arlington, VA and daughter, Debbie Irvin of Fremont, NC.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro with Pastor Bill Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at noon. Visitation will be held that same Wednesday morning from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. All are welcome to a celebration of life reception at the Stancill house located at 102 Joscara Drive, Goldsboro, NC after the interment.
