August 20, 2026, 86, Goldsboro – Lawrence “Larry” Charles Buss was born July 12, 1940 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the son of Lawrence F. Buss and Dorothy (Richards) Buss. He graduated from William Allen High School in 1958.
Larry served honorably in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Following his military service, he was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 375.
An avid motorcyclist, Larry rode a Honda Gold Wing for many years and was a decades-long member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA), Chapter L.
Larry was Roman Catholic. He attended St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall, Pennsylvania, and, after moving to North Carolina, St. Mary Catholic Church in Goldsboro.
Larry married Maureen “Mickey” Eleanor Howard, and together they had five children: Laurie, Ann Marie, Michael, David, and Brian. Laurie preceded him in death in 1987.
Larry is survived by his children, Ann Marie Buss of Our Lady of the Redwoods Abbey in Whitethorn, California; Michael Buss and his wife, Charito, of Skokomish Nation, Washington; David Buss of San Jose, California; and Brian Buss and his wife, Jennifer, of Goldsboro, North Carolina.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Olivia Miller (Forrest Miller); Teresa Buss (Jason Kistler); and Brianna, Caitlin, and Ethan Buss; and his great-grandchildren, Oscar Miller and Molly Kistler.
Larry is also survived by his sister, Sharon George; his niece, Sharon Di Lorenzo and her husband, Frank and his great-niece, Shonra Politz.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maureen “Mickey” Buss; his daughter, Laurie; his parents, Lawrence F. Buss and Dorothy (Richards) Buss; and his sister, Marilyn Buss Hendricks.
