MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. — The University of Mount Olive has made changes to its softball coaching staff, promoting Jason Deitz to head coach and hiring Caroline Jacquay as an assistant coach.
UMO Director of Athletics Joey Higginbotham announced the moves, officially elevating Deitz to the permanent head coaching position after he served as the Trojans’ interim head softball coach during the summer.
Deitz has spent the past two seasons as a member of the UMO softball coaching staff before taking over the program on an interim basis.
Joining Deitz on the Trojans’ staff will be Jacquay, who brings coaching, recruiting and player-development experience at multiple levels.
Jacquay most recently worked as a summer camp softball coach at IMG Academy. Her previous experience includes assistant coaching positions at East Lake High School and Rowan County High School. She has also worked as a recruiting coordinator with All-Ripken Softball.
Jacquay earned her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of South Carolina Upstate in 2023. She previously earned an associate degree from the College of Central Florida.
The moves give the Trojans a new coaching combination as the University of Mount Olive softball program prepares for its next season.
