GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A 35-year-old Goldsboro man has been arrested and charged following an investigation into a July shooting that left another person injured.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Renaldo Donyell Lofton, 35, of Spring Creek Road, Goldsboro, has been charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury.
Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a shooting on July 2, 2026. When deputies arrived, investigators determined that an altercation had occurred between Lofton and another individual.
Authorities said the altercation became physical. During the argument, Lofton allegedly retrieved a firearm from inside the residence and pointed it at the other person.
Investigators said Lofton then fired two rounds, striking the victim in the shoulder and hand.
Following an investigation, detectives identified Lofton as the suspect. He was subsequently arrested and charged.
Lofton was placed in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $275,000 secured bond.
