MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. — A special visitor from the Carolina Panthers is headed to downtown Mount Olive this week as Mt. Olive Pickle Company prepares to make a special announcement with the NFL team.
Carolina Panthers mascot Sir Purr will visit the Mt. Olive Pickle Parlor on Tuesday, August 11, from 1 to 2 p.m. Sir Purr will arrive in his Cat Cruiser and help the Carolina Panthers and Mt. Olive Pickle Company make the announcement.
Bobby Frye, president and CEO of Mt. Olive Pickle Company, and Jonathan Norman, director of partnerships with Tepper Sports & Entertainment, will be on hand for the announcement.
In addition to the announcement, visitors will have an opportunity to take photos with Sir Purr, sample pickles and enter to win door prizes.
The event comes as Mt. Olive Pickle Company celebrates its centennial in 2026.
The Mt. Olive Pickle Parlor opened one year ago in downtown Mount Olive and features Mt. Olive Pickle products and pickle-themed merchandise. Visitors can also explore displays highlighting the company’s history, watch its tour video and participate in daily pickle sampling.
The Pickle Parlor is located at 109 N. Center St. in Mount Olive.
Mt. Olive Pickle Company was organized in 1926 by local business leaders looking to create another market for area farmers. A century later, the privately held company remains headquartered in Mount Olive, employs approximately 1,400 people and produces the best-selling brand of pickles, peppers and relishes in the United States.
