July 26, 2026, 93, Goldsboro – Wayne C. Harrison, 93, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday afternoon, July 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Wayne was born in Wayne County on June 2, 1933, to the late Lawson and Abia Harrison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Shelby Brown Harrison; his daughter, Cynthia Harrison Lane; and his brothers, Talmage Harrison and Douglas Harrison.
Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Army before beginning a distinguished career with DuPont, where he retired after 38 years of dedicated service.
A faithful member of Saulston Community Church, Wayne served as the church’s Facilities Maintenance Director for many years. He loved his church and faithfully worshipped the Lord as long as his health allowed.
Above all else, Wayne treasured his family. He found his greatest joy in spending time with those he loved and leaves behind a legacy of devotion, hard work, and quiet strength.
Wayne is survived by his daughter, Sheila Renee Turnage and husband, Sidney, of Goldsboro; three grandchildren, Ashley N. Turnage, Scarlett R. Lane, and Travis J. Lane; two great-grandchildren, Samuel H. Lane and Willow Q. Lane; his brother, Marcellus Harrison and wife, Janice; his sister, Diane Hill and husband, Randy; his sister-in-law, Barbara Harrison; his special friend, Barbara Ellis; and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Wayne’s life will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Clay Parker and Rev. Jeff Severt officiating. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
