GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Small business owners and managers in Goldsboro and surrounding communities have a unique opportunity to earn a prestigious certification designed to help attract more customers and grow their businesses.
On Thursday, July 30, internationally recognized business expert Jon Schallert, widely regarded as the world’s leading Destination Business expert, will lead a full-day workshop that allows participants to complete the requirements to become a Certified NC Destination Business in a single session.
The workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Goldsboro Event Center, with registration beginning at 8 a.m. Coffee and snacks will be provided, while lunch will be on participants’ own at an off-site location.
Business owners or managers who attend the entire workshop will be eligible to receive the Certified NC Destination Business designation.
The training is valued at $2,500 per participant but is being offered at no cost through a grant awarded to the North Carolina Main Street & Rural Planning Center, making it a rare opportunity for local businesses to receive nationally recognized training without traveling.
Organizers say the certification offers several benefits, including:
- Recognition during site visits by the Governor’s Office and the N.C. Department of Commerce.
- Promotion on the Downtown Goldsboro website and social media channels.
- Inclusion on the Main-to-Main Trail website, highlighting certified businesses to visitors.
- Future marketing opportunities through the statewide Main-to-Main Trail initiative, which will showcase all 72 North Carolina Main Street communities through storytelling, visitor itineraries and promotional media.
The workshop is open to all small businesses, not just those located in downtown Goldsboro, and organizers encourage business owners from throughout the surrounding area to participate.
