July 20, 2026, 80, Goldsboro – Isabel Salgado Carrasquillo, 80, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Puerto Rico on March 10, 1946, Isabel was the daughter of the late Pedro Salgado-Duron and Dolores Arroyo-Santos. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jocelyn Luis Carrasquillo, who proudly served his country during Operation Iraqi Freedom and gave his life in service to the United States.
Isabel dedicated many years to serving others through her work. She was employed in human resources at Carolina Turkeys before continuing her career with East Coast Migrant Head Start. She later worked at Furniture Fair in Goldsboro and eventually became a familiar and friendly face to many customers during her years at Walmart in Goldsboro.
Above all else, Isabel’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was being the mother of her four sons. She devoted her life to caring for them, always putting their needs before her own and doing everything she could to ensure they were loved and provided for.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Isabel was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Goldsboro. Her faith sustained her throughout life’s greatest joys and deepest sorrows.
As a Gold Star Mother, Isabel carried the memory of her son, Joce, with unwavering love and pride. She found comfort and strength in the fellowship of fellow Gold Star Mothers, joining them in honoring the sacrifices of their sons and daughters while supporting veterans, active-duty military members, their families, and their communities. Her strength, compassion, and patriotism were an inspiration to all who knew her.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 30, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, July 31, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Parish in Goldsboro with Father Celso presiding.
