July 17, 2026, 96, Goldsboro – Nell Virginia Reed Bibb, age 96, of Goldsboro, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, July 17, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on April 1, 1930, in Pocahontas, Virginia, she was the daughter of John Paul and Lotus Barnett Reed. A dedicated educator and homemaker, Nell served as a art teacher at Goldsboro Christian School, where she inspired countless students with her passion for art.
Family was very important in her life, Nell loved to sit and talk with family and friends. No matter what the topic of the topic of the conversation was, a cup of coffee was required,
Nell was a devoted member of Freedom Baptist Church in Goldsboro, where she was actively involved in various church activities, serving as a Sunday school teacher as long as her health permitted.
She is survived by her children: David Bibb and his wife, Denise, of Goldsboro; John Bibb and wife Teresa of Fort Worth, Texas, her daughter Kyla Bibb Zimmer and husband, Jim of Goldsboro. Seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom cherished her warmth and love. Also surviving is her Freedom Baptist Church Family,
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband the late Edgar K. Bibb, Jr. and sister, Patsy Lawson.
A celebration of life will be held by the graveside, 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Wayne Memorial Park, Rev, Dave Varnell, officiating. The family will greet friends and family one hour before the service on Wednesday at Shumate- Faulk Funeral Home, other times they will be at her home.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be directed to Freedom Baptist Church in her memory.
