July 8, 2026, 69, Smithfield – Debra Lynn Holmes, 69, of Smithfield passed away at UNC Johnston on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. She was born in Washington, D.C. on March 24, 1957 to Rebecca Jean Holmes.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, George A. Brantham; the love of her life, Mark D. Shotwell, 5 aunts, 1 uncle and many cousins.
She is survived by her mother, Rebecca Jean Holmes; daughter, Jeanna Lynn Grant and husband Travis; grandchildren, Andrew Byrd, Christian Byrd; great grandchildren, Aubree Byrd, Tyler Byrd, Colton Byrd, Allison Byrd, Waylon Byrd; and aunts, Mary Lou Hodge and Barbara Holmes.
A private family gathering will be held at later date.
