WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — United Way of Wayne County is inviting eligible nonprofit organizations to apply for funding through its 2027 Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), with application materials becoming available beginning July 10.
The annual funding opportunity supports established nonprofit programs that demonstrate measurable outcomes and help improve the lives of Wayne County residents.
Organizations seeking funding must be recognized as 501(c)(3) nonprofits incorporated in North Carolina and provide services within Wayne County. Eligible programs must align with at least one of United Way’s four impact areas:
- Basic Needs
- Education
- Health & Wellness
- Financial Stability
United Way officials noted that the funding is intended for established, outcomes-driven programs. New or pilot initiatives that do not yet have measurable results are not eligible for consideration.
As part of the application process, organizations are required to attend one of two in-person orientation sessions, where staff will explain the application requirements and demonstrate the e-CImpact grant portal.
The orientation sessions are scheduled for:
- Thursday, Aug. 6, 2026, at 9 a.m.
- Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026, at 2 p.m.
Organizations that complete one of the required orientations will be invited to submit a pre-qualification application along with the required digital documentation. Those that successfully complete the pre-qualification process will then be eligible to submit a full funding application.
Funding awarded through this process will support qualifying programs operating between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2027.
Application materials and additional information are available beginning July 10 at www.unitedwayne.org/501c3. Nonprofits can also register for an orientation session through the website or contact Pilar Parks at pilar@unitedwayne.org for more information.
United Way of Wayne County encourages eligible organizations to review the funding guidelines early and attend one of the required orientation sessions to begin the application process.
