WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — Thousands of residents and visitors gathered Friday evening to celebrate Independence Day as Fireworks Over Wayne delivered one of the county’s largest Fourth of July celebrations, marking America’s 250th Anniversary with an evening filled with music, family fun, and a spectacular fireworks finale.
The celebration kicked off at 4 p.m., as families streamed onto the event grounds to enjoy a variety of attractions. The popular tractor show and car show drew crowds throughout the afternoon, while more than 60 vendors and over 15 food trucks offered shopping opportunities and a wide selection of food and refreshments.
Children and families spent the afternoon in the Family Zone, while live entertainment kept the festivities going across multiple stages.
Matt Livingston opened the entertainment on the Pavilion Stage before Wood & Steel energized the crowd on the Main Stage. Performances by 581 South and Zack Lee kept the celebration going into the evening, providing a soundtrack for the patriotic festivities.
The First Place BMX Stunt Show thrilled spectators with two high-energy performances, drawing cheers as riders performed gravity-defying tricks and stunts.
As dusk approached, attendees gathered near the main stage for patriotic remarks, the presentation of the colors, and a stirring performance of the National Anthem, recognizing the nation’s 250th anniversary and honoring those who have served the country.
The evening concluded with a dazzling fireworks display that illuminated the Wayne County sky, bringing applause from the crowd and providing a memorable finale to the community celebration.
Fireworks Over Wayne once again showcased the spirit of Wayne County, bringing neighbors, families, and visitors together to celebrate the nation’s independence while creating lasting memories during one of the area’s premier summer events.
