North Carolina will remain in Phase 2 of its reopening plan.
Governor Roy Cooper made the announcement Wednesday that the state’s COVID-19 numbers were stabilizing, but it was not time to let up. Therefore, Cooper says the state will remain in the “Safer-At-Home” Phase 2 for another five weeks. Gov. Cooper says schools and universities will be reopening in the next few weeks, and that is likely to help the coronavirus spread.
As of Wednesday, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services says there have been 129,288 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state. 2,050 of those cases have resulted in death. 1,167 people are currently hospitalized due to the virus.
