GOLDSBORO, N.C. — History will come alive in Downtown Goldsboro on Friday as the Foundation of Wayne Community College invites the community to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with an interactive living history experience.
The “Step into 1776” event will take place Friday, July 3, featuring historical reenactors from across North Carolina who will bring the Revolutionary War era to life through demonstrations, exhibits, and hands-on activities designed for all ages.
From 2 to 5 p.m., visitors can enjoy a variety of free immersive experiences throughout downtown, including:
- Hourly cannon and musket demonstrations at The Hub.
- A ladies’ colonial craft experience and 18th-century dress ensemble demonstration in the Terrace Room.
- A Revolutionary-era medical display at the Acme Theatre.
- Opportunities to meet and interact with colonial reenactors throughout the afternoon.
The celebration continues at 5:15 p.m. inside the Paramount Theatre with the ticketed portion of the event.
Guests can enjoy “Taste the Revolution,” featuring colonial-inspired refreshments before gathering for a reading of the Declaration of Independence at 5:45 p.m. The evening concludes with a screening of the award-winning musical film “1776” beginning at 6 p.m.
