June 26, 2026, 69, Goldsboro – Kathy Gail Pennington, 69, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born on December 9, 1956 in Wayne County, she was daughter to the late Ralph Pennington and Sybil McDaniel Pennington.
Kathy was a devoted and independent woman who never met a stranger. A true people person, she cherished every opportunity to spend time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. Kathy had a deep love for animals and opened her heart to every animal she encountered.
She enjoyed staying connected with family and friends through Facebook, where she loved keeping up with life’s happenings and sharing in the joys of others. Her warm personality, caring spirit, and genuine love for both people and animals will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Kathy is survived by her son, Steve Brown and wife, Sheryl; her grandchildren, Hunter Brown and Dylan Palk; her brothers, Garry Pennington and wife, Jan, and Kenneth Pennington and wife, Nina; her niece, Wendy Thomas and husband, Chris; and her nephew, Ken Pennington and wife, Cristi.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A memorial service to honor Kathy’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Pete Norris officiating.
