June 21, 2026, 88, Goldsboro – Freddie Lee McKinnon, 88, peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026 at Helping Hands Assisted Living. Born in Wayne County on August 28, 1937, he was the son of the late Davis McKinnon and Eula Forte McKinnon.
Freddie is survived by his daughters, Shirley Gantt (Lazarus), Juanita Rivers, Evonda Barnes, and Fredricka McKinnon; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one nephew.
Freddie proudly served his country in the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Navy. He retired after 20 years of dedicated service.
Freddie loved music and in years past had a dedicated music room in his home, lined with his favorite vinyl records.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Seymour Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
