May 19, 2026, 69, Goldsboro – Janet Pope Williford, 69, passed away at Kitty Askins Hospice Center on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 surrounded by her family. Born in Wake County on July 11, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Edward Travis “Dick” Pope and Maudgenia Mohorn Pope.
Jan is survived by her loving husband, Steve Williford; son, Parker Williford (Jessi); grandson, Shepard Williford; siblings, Edla Prevette (Jim) and Len Pope (Gina); nephews, Ashton Pope, Zach Prevette (Lisa), and Adam Prevette; and great-nieces, Kennedy Prevette and Emerson Prevette.
A proud graduate of East Carolina University, Jan earned her degree in Home Economics, a field that perfectly matched her creative abilities. She devoted 39 faithful years to serving others at the State Employees’ Credit Union, where she was known for her professionalism and willingness to help anyone in need.
Jan had a true gift for creating beauty in everyday life. She was an exceptional seamstress who could turn fabric into treasured keepsakes with skill and care. In the kitchen, she shared her love through homemade meals, baked goods, and beautifully decorated cakes and cookies. Her passion for baking even led her to operate a small cake decorating business, where her creativity brought joy to countless celebrations.
She also found great happiness in scrapbooking, preserving precious family memories with thoughtful detail and artistic flair. More than any hobby or accomplishment, however, Jan treasured the time she spent with her family. They were the center of her world, and she loved them deeply and unconditionally.
Jan will be remembered for her fiery spirit, creative talents, and service to the church. Her memory will forever remain a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
A service to celebrate Jan’s life will be held on Monday, May 25, 2026 at 2:00 pm at The Bridge Church in Princeton. Interment services will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Sunday, May 24, 2026 from 5:00 until 7:00pm.
