May 13, 2026, 73, Beautancus – Cynthia Anne Sutton Johnson, 73, a Beautancus area resident, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 13, 2026, at her home.
Cindy, as she was known to most, was preceded in death by her parents, Carlton and Pashia Joyner Sutton, and a brother, Wilbur Dale Sutton.
She leaves behind two sons, Benjamin Chad Moye, of the home, and Matthew Carey Moye along with his wife-to-be, Jessica, of Pikeville; two grandchildren, Gabriella Moye and Jaxon Moye; a sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis Sutton Coley and Bryant Coley, of Mount Olive; a brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Cheryl W. Sutton, of Mount Olive; nieces, nephews, and their spouses, Morgan and Brad Lee, Brandon and Erika Sutton, Brittany and Morgan Hill, Josh and Kayla Coley, Ashley Sutton Britt, and Kyle Sutton; and 14 great nieces and great nephews.
There will be a service to remember the life of Cindy Johnson on Monday, May 18, at 6:00 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home. Officiating will be Pastor Jeff Dail. Visitation will follow the service.
Cindy had been employed with the Smithfield Herald newspaper in Smithfield as a graphic designer, and also at Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro as a healthcare technician. She thoroughly enjoyed graphic design, painting, and writing cards to shut-ins and those with illness. She loved her grandchildren fiercely and her nieces and nephews were mighty special. Cindy also enjoyed talking on the telephone, and when she was anywhere there was a gathering, the life of the party was always her. She worshipped at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
