GOLDSBORO, NC – A Goldsboro woman is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after a handgun was discovered on the campus of Eastern Wayne Elementary School earlier this week.
According to authorities, on May 6, 2026, the School Resource Officer at Eastern Wayne Elementary was called to the front office regarding an issue involving a parent. After arriving and assessing the situation, the SRO learned the parent, identified as 23-year-old Ariyana L. Jones, had a handgun inside her purse.
The officer took Jones into custody without incident.
Jones, of Central Heights Road in Goldsboro, was charged with:
- Class I Felony Weapon on Campus or Other Educational Property
- Class 2 Misdemeanor Carrying Concealed Weapon
No injuries were reported, and officials did not indicate that any threats were made during the incident.
