GOLDSBORO, NC – Emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a school bus Tuesday afternoon in Goldsboro.
According to officials, the accident occurred around 4 p.m. at the bridge near North Carolina Street and West Vine Street. The bus, carrying students from Dillard Charter Academy, was involved in the crash under circumstances that have not yet been released.
Authorities said nine children, along with two adults — the driver and a bus monitor — were on board at the time of the incident. Six students were transported to UNC Health Wayne with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
The bus driver sustained more serious injuries and was airlifted to ECU Health Medical Center for treatment. The condition of the driver has not been disclosed.
Police and fire personnel remained on the scene following the crash. No additional details, including the cause of the accident, have been released at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
