WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — The Wayne County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to meet Tuesday, April 21, at 9 a.m., with a full agenda that includes special recognitions, a public hearing on economic development, several board appointments, and discussions surrounding opioid settlement funding.
The meeting will begin with special presentations, including recognition of Wayne County employees selected as America’s 250 Public Service Champions. Commissioners will also consider approving the 2026 Volunteer Appreciation Proclamation, presented by Sherry Archibald, Director of the United Way of Wayne County.
Public Hearing on ParkEast Industrial Park Agreement
At 9:15 a.m., commissioners will hold a public hearing to receive comments on a second amendment to an existing economic development agreement between the City of Goldsboro and Wayne County involving ParkEast Industrial Park Lot 6.
Following the public hearing, the board may take action regarding the proposed amendment.
Board Appointments and Reappointments
Commissioners are also scheduled to consider several appointments, including:
- Appointment of Rex Price to the Wayne County Planning Board (term expiring October 2026)
- Reappointment of Deborah Harris to the Wayne Community College Board of Trustees
- Appointment of Ronnie Anderson Barnes as Fire Commissioner for the Pikeville Pleasant Grove Fire Department, replacing John D. Pate
- Appointment of Tiffany Blalock and Patria Braswell to the Wayne County Tourism Development Authority
Consent Agenda Items
The consent agenda includes:
- Budget amendments
- Late present-use value applications
- Approval of the audit contract with Nunn, Brashear, & Uzzell, P.A. for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026
New Business Includes Opioid Settlement Participation
Under new business, commissioners will consider:
- A resolution to participate in an opioid settlement involving multiple pharmaceutical distributors
- A resolution authorizing opioid settlement funds to create a Wayne County Post-Overdose Response Team
- Resolution #2026-6 opposing modifications to county property tax authority
