March 29, 2026, 72, Goldsboro – Michael Anthony Wehner, born November 2, 1953, in Dayton, Ohio, passed away on March 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and proud veteran whose presence will be deeply missed.
Michael honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years. During his service, he was part of the Persian Gulf War, including Desert Shield and Desert Storm, where he earned the National Defense Service Medal with a bronze star. Following his military service, he dedicated 30 years of hard work and commitment to Smith/Monroe Hardware. Throughout his life, Michael was known for his strong work ethic and unwavering sense of responsibility.
Michael shared a loving and enduring marriage of 52 years with his wife, Pat Wehner, building a strong and caring family together. He always put his family first, a reflection of the deep love and dedication he had for them. He is also survived by his daughter, Kris McDaniel; his grandchildren, Gina McDaniel (Jeremy) and Ryan McDaniel (Jade); and his great-grandson, Cash Michael Calvo, who brought him immense pride and joy.
He was born to Clarence and Rose Wehner and grew up alongside his siblings, forming lifelong bonds and cherished memories. He is survived by his brothers, Paul Wehner (Jo), Tim Wehner (Wendy), and Ray Wehner (Virginia); and his sisters, Sue Williams and Marie Amburgey (James).
Michael also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends he considered family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Michael Wehner and Rose Claude Wehner; and his brother-in-law, Troy Williams.
Michael was a good man who wore his pride on his sleeve and nowhere else. He will be remembered not only for the life he lived, but for the love he gave so freely to those around him. His presence was a source of strength, comfort, and unwavering support, and his absence leaves a space that cannot be filled. Though he may be gone, the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the love he shared will remain forever in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Michael’s life at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel. Military honors on the front lawn of Seymour Funeral Home will conclude the service.
