March 30, 2026, 83, Goldsboro – Fredrick Stevens LaFevers, 83, of Goldsboro, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026.
Born on January 1, 1943, in Lenoir, North Carolina, Steve was the son of Fred and Norma LaFevers. As the child of a military family, he spent his early years living around the world, including in England and Japan. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he completed both his undergraduate studies and dental school. He proudly served as a dentist in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1971 before opening his dental practice in Goldsboro, where he faithfully served his community for many years.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Sharon; his daughters, Tracey LaFevers Moore (HB) of Littleton, NC, and Paige LaFevers Daniels (John) of Goldsboro; his sons, Steven James LaFevers (Jessica) of Greenville, NC, and Scott Olen LaFevers (Kim) of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Emma Grace Moore Milian (Caleb), Harrison Moore (Maddie), Dawson Daniels (Lindsay), Lydia, Alli, Bree, Brooke, Anna Scott, Zach, and Kit LaFevers; and his great-grandson, Lucas Milian. He is also survived by his sisters, Cissy LaFevers Stubblefield (Charles) and Pat LaFevers Holsten (Bruce), along with many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Caroline Daniels.
Steve was deeply involved in his community and generously gave his time serving on several boards, including the local school board and Walnut Creek Country Club. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—growing orchids, photography, cooking, traveling, and time spent at the beach. Above all, he treasured his family. His greatest happiness came from having everyone together under one roof.
Steve will be remembered by many for his kindness and generosity. By his family, he will be especially remembered for his humor, his “silly sayings,” his unwavering love, and his strong belief in the importance of family.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, at St. Paul Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut Street, Goldsboro, NC. A service to celebrate Steve’s life will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary with Rev. James H. Harry officiating. Services will conclude in Wayne Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul Methodist Church in his memory.
