March 21, 2026, 77, Rosewood – Raymond Allen Walters, 77, of Rosewood, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Wayne UNC surrounded by his family. Raymond was born in Wayne County on April 27, 1948, to the late Earl and Elizabeth Mitchell Walters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Cooper Walters.
Raymond graduated from Goldsboro High School, where he played football and made many lifelong friends. After high school, Raymond proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He later owned and operated Mr. Fixit Handyman Service for many years.
A life characterized by service – to country, community, and family – Raymond will be remembered for his generosity to others. Always willing to help, he was the first call for many friends and family members in their time of need.
He is survived by his daughter, Andrea Britt of Asheville; his grandchildren, Matthew Crumpler and Michael Crumpler of Mt. Olive and Anna Britt of Asheville; his sister, Dorothy Walters Howard, and brothers, Royce Walters and Robert Walters and wife, Jackie, all of Rosewood; and aunts and uncles, Dollie Capps of Goldsboro, Gordon and Betty Capps of Moyock, Alice Powell of Elizabeth City, Kenny and Arlene Capps, and Gayle and Larry Allen, all of Virginia. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved dearly.
At Raymond’s request, no formal services will be held. The Walters family asks that those who knew Raymond honor his memory with an act of service for someone in need. Raymond will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, North Carolina.
