March 10, 2026, 73, Mount Olive – Otis McKinney Jr., 73, of Mt. Olive departed this earthly life on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at his home.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at noon at St. James Church of Christ in Mt. Olive. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at the church.
Mr. McKinney was born in Wayne County, NC on February 16, 1953 to the late Otis and Carrie Brewington McKinney. He was formerly employed with Mt. Olive Pickle Company.
He is survived by his wife, Panis K. McKinney; three sons, Rickie Usher of Mt. Olive, Demetrius Elliott of Mt. Olive and Greg Carlton of Raleigh; two daughters, Sandra Rouse of Dudley and Stephanie McKinney (Andros) of Goldsboro; six brothers, Robert Steele Jones of Wilson, Ricky McKinney (Patricia) of Mt. Olive, Maurice McKinney (Gwen) of Mt. Olive, Herbert McKinney (Dee) of Faison, Anthony McKinney (Chenita) of Mt. Olive and Reginald McKinney (Teresa) of Mt. Olive; six sisters, Linda Musgrave of Dudley, Catherine Vinson (Fred) of Virginia, Lannie Bolden (Charles) of Georgia, Carolyn Ward (Bobby) of Mt. Olive; Gaynelle Hall (Gerald) of Dudley and Debbie Harper of Dudley; his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donnell McKinney and his sister, Estelle Spell.
