March 1, 2026, 83, Goldsboro – Margaret Davis Stamper, 83, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Lower Cape Fear Life Care in Wilmington, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Goldsboro on January 8, 1943, Margaret was the daughter of the late Philippa Best Darush. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marjorie Jones McCann; her stepfather, Harry Darush; and her maternal grandparents, Mable and Eddie Best.
Margaret found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She treasured going on cruises with her daughters, always ready for a new adventure together. She delighted in trying her luck on the $1 slot machines, loved the fun and mystery of Scooby-Doo, and had a special fondness for the beauty and elegance of peacocks. Her vibrant spirit and playful heart brought light to those around her.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Thomas Stamper of Jacksonville; her three children, Gary Clanton of King, NC, Hope Pope of Pensacola, FL, and Megan Tucker of Stafford, VA; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
The family will gather for a time of remembrance on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at her home, 705 Conifer Circle, Jacksonville.
