YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. — The University of Mount Olive women’s basketball team fought through four competitive quarters Monday afternoon but fell 71–40 on the road at Young Harris College.
Mount Olive opened the contest with strong defensive intensity, keeping the game tight in the early minutes. The Trojans trailed just 12–10 at the end of the first quarter after generating quality offensive opportunities and battling on the boards to stay within striking distance.
Savannah McAfee led the Trojans with 11 points and added seven rebounds. Jerin Truesdale delivered a strong all-around performance, finishing with nine points and nine rebounds. Kayla Jackson chipped in eight points, while Jayla Hicks contributed seven points and four assists as Mount Olive continued to share the ball and attack offensively.
A challenging third quarter allowed Young Harris to widen the gap and shift the momentum. The Trojans responded with their most productive stretch of the second half in the fourth quarter, scoring 14 points and knocking down timely shots, but were unable to overcome the deficit.
Mount Olive returns to action Wednesday at 5 p.m. when the Trojans host Ferrum College.
