MOUNT OLIVE, NC — The University of Mount Olive women’s basketball team fell 63–41 to Conference Carolinas opponent Barton College on Tuesday night at Kornegay Arena.
The Trojans struggled to find their rhythm offensively in the first half, shooting just 20 percent from the field over the opening two quarters. Barton capitalized on second-chance opportunities and perimeter shooting to build a 30–14 advantage by halftime.
Jerin Truesdale led Mount Olive with a team-high 16 points and nine rebounds, anchoring the effort in the paint. Savannah McAfee contributed eight points and six rebounds, while Kayla Jackson added seven points and three steals.
Mount Olive showed renewed energy after the break, outscoring Barton 27–33 in the second half. The Trojans tightened their defense in the third quarter and produced a 16-point fourth quarter fueled by fast-break chances and improved ball movement, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
Mount Olive returns to action Saturday with a 2 p.m. road matchup against Shorter University in Rome, Georgia.
