February 7, 2026, 82, Mount Olive – Clarence Douglas Brogden, 82, Beautancus community resident of near Mount Olive, passed away early Saturday morning, February 7, 2026 at Duplin General Hospital.
Douglas was a graduate of North Duplin High School with the class of 1961. During his working career, he held various jobs including operating the printing press at Mount Olive Tribune, serving as custodian at North Duplin Elementary School, serving as store clerk at Faison’s Handy Mart and Friendly Mart stores, and lastly with selling used furniture and appliances.
Mr. Brogden is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Bonnie Jones Brogden, and Tracy and Felicia Coker Brogden, all of the Mount Olive area; grandchildren, Ethan Brogden and Molly Brogden of Mount Olive, Zachary Brogden and wife, Haley, of Newton Grove, Benjamin Brogden and wife, Skylar, of Mount Olive, Nathan Stafford, Nikki Lopes, and Haley Stafford, all of Mount Olive; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Brogden, Owen Heath, and Jayden Anderson; a brother, Donald Rex Brogden of Mount Olive; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judith “Judy” Myers Brogden; his parents, Clarence W. and Marie Dixon Brogden; a brother, Nelson Brogden; and his wife’s parents, Harvey and Annie Laura Myers.
Funeral services for Mr. Brogden will be held Tuesday, February 10, at 2 p.m. at Bear Marsh Missionary Baptist Church of which he was a long-time member. Officiating will be church pastor, the Rev. Paul Rose. Burial will follow at the Calypso Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church during the hour before the service, and at other times at the home of Tracy and Felicia Brogden.
