January 28, 2026, 42, Goldsboro – Mr. Reginald Lawrence Phillips, lovingly known as Reggie, Buttaball, or Reg, was born on October 11, 1983, in Elizabeth, New Jersey. On January 28, 2026, he gained his wings, leaving behind a lifetime of memories filled with love, laughter, and family.
He attended Benjamin Franklin School #13 and John Marshall School #20 in Elizabeth, NJ, before relocating to Goldsboro, NC, where he continued his education at Dillard Middle School, where he played football, and later Goldsboro High School. Reggie had a heart as big as his smile. He loved to laugh, loved to cook, and of course, loved to eat and share his culinary creations with those around him. Music was one of his passions and remained a constant source of joy throughout his life.
He is survived by his father, Reginald Burris, of South Carolina; his three beloved daughters, Sha’Quala Darden, Anasia Phillips, and baby girl Ma’Kiyah Phillips, all of North Carolina; his brother, Quaashon (Kristie) Phillips, of NC; his sisters, Ieisha Phillips of New Jersey and Kelly Burris of Virginia; and his loving aunts, Nora (Donzel) Phillips of Goldsboro, NC; Great Aunt MaeBell Jackson of LaGrange, NC; and Renee Burris of NJ.
