January 26, 2026, 55, Mount Olive – Joseph Whitehurst Caveness, Jr., 55, resident of Mount Olive, passed away at his home.
Joseph had been employed with his parents at Mount Olive Gas Company until it was assumed by Parker Gas. He then worked in amusements and gaming.
Joseph is survived by a daughter, Britt Caveness and a son, Joseph W. Caveness III, both of Goldsboro; his parents, Joe and Judy M. Caveness of Mount Olive, who recently relocated to Wilmington; a brother and sister-in-law, Brian D. and Lynn Pate Caveness of Castle Hayne; a niece, Lauren Caveness and a nephew, Jarrett Caveness, both of Castle Hayne.
