January 27, 2026, 49, La Grange – Angela Paige “Angie” Greene, 49, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, surrounded by the love and embraces of her family. Angie was born in Wayne County on May 16, 1976, to Kathy Greene Layden and the late William Nelson “Buddy” Greene. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Mildred Greene, and her faithful canine companion, Chance.
Proud to be Buddy Greene’s daughter, Angie shared her daddy’s deep love for automobiles. She knew the ins and outs of every vehicle and was a perfect fit for her career in auto parts sales. With her vast knowledge, she was the go-to person when help with a vehicle was needed. No man in the family could outshine her expertise.
Independent and strong-willed, Angie did things in her own way and on her own time. She had a heart of gold and would give her last dollar to anyone in need. True to her generous spirit, she donated a kidney to her brother when he needed it. Angie’s love for life was extraordinary, matched only by her larger-than-life sense of humor. Never one to take things too seriously, she could lighten even the heaviest moments. Always on the go, Angie’s sharp sense of style was complemented by perfect hair, makeup, and nails. Wherever she went, she was determined to look her best.
Angie’s love of sports ranged from basketball and football to golf. Her favorite teams were the Duke Blue Devils and the Seattle Seahawks, and over the last few years, the golf course became her place of contentment. When her teams were playing, she was sure to be tuned in and everyone knew not to bother her during the game.
Angie had an incredible knack for building and crafting. She could take the most useless items and give them new life. Always prepared, her pocketbook was filled with everything she needed, and probably a few things you might need, too.
Music was always playing wherever Angie was. Though Cher was her favorite vocalist and Al Pacino her favorite actor, she could tell you every detail about any song that came on the radio, from the artist to the album it appeared on. Her music trivia knowledge was unmatched. Just as strong as her love for music was her love for John Boy and Billy Barbecue Sauce. To Angie, everything tasted better with a little sauce.
Cold weather and thunderstorms were among Angie’s favorite conditions. The colder, the better, and hurricanes, tornadoes, and thunderstorms fascinated her far more than they frightened her.
Above all, Angie’s love for her family and her advocacy for animals defined her life. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joys, and she loved all animals from cats and dogs to snakes. She couldn’t bear to see an animal harmed and did her best to love and protect them all.
A memorial service to honor Angie’s life will be held at the La Grange Church of God on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
Angie is survived by her daughter, Alexa Brayle Greene Radford and husband, Ian; bonus daughter, Keaton Graham; grandchildren, Lucas Radford and Archer Radford; mother, Kathy Layden and husband, Karroll; grandmother, Marie Carter; brother, Tony Greene and wife, Sharon; aunt, Mary Carter; niece, Katie Greene Sholar and husband, Wesley; great-nieces, Ansley Sholar and Allora Sholar; along with many special aunts, uncles, and extended family.
