GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Goldsboro police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred in the 900 block of West Oak Street early Tuesday.
According to the Goldsboro Police Department, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the area at approximately 4:54 a.m. on Jan. 27, 2026. Officers canvassed the area but did not locate any victims at that time.
Later that morning, at approximately 10:26 a.m., officers were called to an apartment in the same block after reports of an unresponsive person. Emergency medical services responded to the scene and pronounced the individual deceased.
Investigators determined the victim appeared to have suffered a single gunshot wound. The Goldsboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and Crime Scene Unit were called to the scene to process evidence and continue the investigation.
The victim has been identified as 61-year-old Ronald Eugene Edwards of Goldsboro.
