January 18, 2026, 88, Goldsboro – Jeanette Delores Gill, 88, passed peacefully on January 18, 2026, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, surrounded by care and compassion.
Jeanette was born on October 26, 1937, in Oshweken, Ontario, Canada, to Stewart and Violet Maracle. A proud Mohawk woman and member of the Six Nations of the Grand River, she carried her heritage with strength, grace, and quiet pride throughout her life.
Her faith was central to who she was. Jeanette dearly loved her church family and was a devoted member of the Goldsboro Seventh-day Adventist Church, where her faith, kindness, and fellowship touched many lives.
Jeanette lived with an adventurous spirit. She had a lifelong love of flying, owned her own plane, and flew solo—an accomplishment that reflected her independence, courage, and determination. Beyond the skies, she found joy in swimming and treasured her time meeting friends at the YMCA in Goldsboro.
She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose warmth, strength, and faith left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Jeanette is survived by her sister, Sandra Jonathan; daughters, Lori Idzikowski (Tim), Terri Jacquemain, and Sharon Shalywylo (Greg); her grandchildren, Tim (deceased; Tracey), Zac (Kathryn), Kelly, Christopher (Sarah), Joseph (Kimberley), Daniel, Mistylyn (Joey), Greg II (Amy), Jessica (Pryor), and Ashlie; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many other beloved relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Eugene W. Mayer and Dennis C. Gill.
A celebration of Jeanette’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Goldsboro Seventh-day Adventist Church, Paralyzed Veterans of America at https://secure.pva.org, or 3HC Kitty Askins Goldsboro.
Jeanette Delores Gill will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her faith, her adventurous heart, and the love she shared so freely with others.
