January 15, 2026, 78, Goldsboro – Jimmy McLean Hare, born April 10, 1947, in Wayne County, North Carolina, was the beloved son of the late Carl and Rachel Hare. A hardworking man with a generous spirit, Jimmy lived a life defined by devotion to family, pride in his work, and a deep love for the simple joys that brought him peace.
For more than 25 years, Jimmy worked with M.E. Perry Construction, followed by over 11 years with Stackhouse, where he was known for his strong work ethic, skilled hands, and willingness to help wherever needed. He loved building and welding, finding satisfaction in creating things that would last—much like the legacy he leaves behind.
Jimmy had a deep love for both the coast and the mountains. He especially cherished the many years spent at his beach house, where he found rest, happiness, and countless memories with those he loved. He was most at home on his tractor, attending tractor pulls, and enjoying races—pastimes that reflected his appreciation for engines, craftsmanship, and community.
Above all, Jimmy was a family man. He is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Connie Kirby-Hare; his sons, Jimmy Hare Jr. (Megan), Tony Hare, Jamie Hare, and Don Jenkins Jr. (Tiffany); grandchildren, Christopher Hare, Lindsay Hare, Chase Hare, and Bethany Hare; and great-grandchildren, Chandler, Mason, Dakota, Ophelia, and a great-grandson soon to arrive, Nash.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including special nieces Angie Bragg and Cindy Davenport and their families, along with many other relatives and friends who were blessed to know him.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby Hare and Edward “Dinky” Hare; his sister-in-law, Joyce Hare; and his beloved fur-baby, Cookie.
Jimmy McLean Hare will be remembered as a man of strength, loyalty, and quiet kindness—someone who built not only with his hands, but with his heart. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply and the many lives he touched along the way.
Graveside services to honor his memory will take place Wednesday, Jan 21, 2026 1:00 PM at Willow Dale cemetery with Rev. Kelvin Gurley officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. All other times, the family will receive friends at 4150 Stevens Mill Rd., Goldsboro NC.
