January 8, 2026, 50, Pikeville – Russell Robertson, 50, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at his home. Born in Los Angeles, California on October 10, 1975, he was the son of the late Danni Lynn O’Neil Boyd.
Russell is survived by his wife of 29 years, Angela Robertson; son, Dawson Robertson, and fiancée, Amber Mattson; daughter, Hayden Robertson; and all the kids he adopted along the way. He is also survived by his Pikeville-Pleasant Grove Volunteer Fire Department family.
Russell proudly served with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, where he was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and commitment to others. In addition to his career, he was a retired and valued member of the Pikeville–Pleasant Grove Volunteer Fire Department. Throughout his years of service, Russell faithfully fulfilled many roles within the department, always willing to step forward wherever he was needed. His devotion to serving others exemplified his selfless spirit and sense of duty.
Outside of his professional and volunteer service, Russell found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time on the golf course and enjoyed playing video games, often sharing laughter and friendly competition with family and friends.
Above all else, Russell was a loving and devoted husband and father. His family was the center of his life, and he took great pride in caring for and providing for those he loved. His kindness, strength, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A private service will be held at a later date for the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Pikeville-Pleasant Grove Volunteer Fire Department.
