January 6, 2026, 93, Goldsboro – Margie Love Strickland passed away peacefully at her home on January 6th, 2026, surrounded by her family.
She was born on Wednesday, November 30th, 1932, to Lonnie and Polk Smith in Goldsboro, NC. She loved going to church and spending time with family. She was a devoted stay at home mother.
She is survived by her children James Marion Turnage (wife Stephanie) of Vincennes, Indiana, Giles Turnage, Walter Dwight Turnage (wife Debra), Kathy Warrick, Michael Turnage (wife Kathy), Margie Twiddy (husband Niles), Marsha Kornegay (husband Billy), Elton Ray Strickland, Also survived by 18 Grandchildren and 21 Great-Grandchildren. All from Goldsboro, North Carolina.
She is preceded in death by her parents Lonnie and Polk Smith, siblings Mark Edward Smith, LP Smith, Charles Smith, Giles Smith, Jo Smith, Eloise Leclair and Dora Mae Langston. Also preceded by her children Brenda Turnage Herrit, Ray Herrit, Vera Gambella Turnage, Albert Warrick and one grandchild Jamie Ray Herrit.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Margie’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Sherwood Howell officiating. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026 in Wayne Memorial Park.
