January 6, 2026, 80, Goldsboro – Ralph Everette Pittman, 80, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, surrounded by compassionate care.
Ralph was born in Wayne County on May 1, 1945, to the late James Royster Pittman and Mary Lee Bailey Pittman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Paulette Pittman; his brother, James Pittman; his sister, Linda Pittman Starling; and his step-mother, Iva H. Pittman.
A hardworking man with deep roots in his community, Ralph farmed on the family farm until the age of 37. He later began a career at Cherry Hospital, where he faithfully served for 25 years before retiring. Ralph took pride in his work and valued dedication, service, and dependability.
Ralph was a devoted member of Rosewood First Baptist Church, where he especially enjoyed fellowship with friends and playing bingo. He was also an active member of the Eastern Carolina Vintage Farm Equipment Club, reflecting his lifelong love of farming and agriculture. Committed to serving others, Ralph served as Assistant Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America and was a member of the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department.
In his quieter moments, Ralph found joy in watching westerns and spending time with those he loved. He will be remembered as a man of faith, service, and steady character.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2026, in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, with Rev. Dr. Timothy Lipp officiating. At other times the family will receive friends at the home of Jason and Christina Stanley, 1750 Piney Grove Church Road, Kenly, NC.
Ralph is survived by his step-sons, Barry Stanley and wife, Rhonda, and Jason Stanley and wife, Christina; and his grandchildren, Lucas “Luke” Stanley, Sidney Stanley, Savannah Stanley Flinspach and husband, Draven, and Bridget Stanley.
The family offers special thanks to his faithful friends, Connie and Donnie, for always being there for Ralph through the years.
