MURFREESBORO — Mount Olive was unable to overcome a strong second-half push by Chowan, falling 70–52 Wednesday evening at the Hawks Athletic Center.
The Trojans fell behind early as Chowan opened the game with a 17–9 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Mount Olive regrouped in the second period, outscoring the Hawks 16–15 to cut into the deficit and head into halftime trailing 32–25.
Chowan created separation in the third quarter, holding Mount Olive to just 10 points while extending its lead to 50–35 entering the final period. Despite continued effort on both ends of the court, the Trojans were unable to close the gap as the Hawks maintained control down the stretch.
Jayla Hicks led Mount Olive with 17 points and five rebounds. Jerin Truesdale added 13 points, while Aniyah Vanhook contributed 12 points in the loss.
The Trojans will return home Saturday to face Erskine at noon in Kornegay Arena.
