GOLDSBORO, NC – As the New Year approaches, the Wayne County Animal Shelter is hoping to help one special dog find the perfect fresh start. This week’s WGBR Pet of the Week powered by Jackson and Sons, features Damien — a six-year-old male Siberian Husky mix with a big heart and plenty of personality.
Damien has been at the shelter for some time and staff members say he’s not sure why he keeps getting overlooked. Those who know him best describe him as a nice dog with good energy, making him a great fit for an active family looking for a loyal companion.
In his photo, Damien appears relaxed and confident, with alert ears, expressive eyes, and a calm, friendly posture. His thick Husky coat and bright expression give the impression of a dog who would be just as comfortable at home on the couch as he would be out enjoying daily walks or playtime.
Graham Price, Executive Director of the Wayne County Animal Shelter, says Damien would love nothing more than to ring in 2026 with a family of his own.
“He’s a great dog and has good energy levels if anyone is looking for an active companion,” Price said.
Those interested in meeting Damien can visit the Wayne County Animal Shelter during adoption hours, Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The shelter will be closed on New Year’s Day. The shelter is located at 1600 Clingman Street in Goldsboro.
This Pet of the Week spotlight is proudly powered by Jackson and Sons — comfortable at home and at work is what they do. For all your heating, cooling, and plumbing needs, when you need them, Jackson and Sons will be there.
As the shelter team reminds the community, adopting a pet is more than bringing home an animal — it’s welcoming a new member into your family. Damien is ready to make that journey and hopes this New Year will bring him his long-awaited FUR-ever home.
