GOLDSBORO, NC — The 53rd Annual George Whitfield Free Baseball Clinic will get under way Saturday morning, Jan. 10, at Wayne Community College, continuing a long-standing tradition of developing young baseball talent across the region.
Registration for the all-day clinic begins at 8 a.m., with activities running until 6 p.m. The clinic is free to all area high school–aged baseball players and their fathers, and lunch will be provided.
Hall of Fame coach George Whitfield will once again lead the event, joined by a team of accomplished college and high school coaches. Together, they will guide participants through what it takes to compete at the next level of the game.
Instruction throughout the day will cover all aspects of baseball, including hitting, pitching, baserunning, outfield play and catching. In addition to on-field skills, the clinic will also address off-the-field topics such as common injuries and injury prevention.
Whitfield strongly encourages local coaches to bring their entire teams to take advantage of the free instruction and exposure. He noted that many former clinic participants have gone on to meet and eventually play for college coaches they first encountered at the event.
For information or reservations, participants are asked to contact George Whitfield directly at 919-222-2018. If unable to reach him, Whitfield said players and their fathers should still plan to attend.
