GOLDSBORO, NC — Wayne County Public Schools has opened the lottery application period for its three special purpose schools: Wayne Early/Middle College High School, Wayne School of Engineering, and Wayne School of Technical Arts.
To help families explore their options, the district will host a series of information sessions in January and February, giving prospective students and parents an opportunity to learn more about each school’s unique academic focus and programming.
The Wayne School of Engineering (WSE) will hold an information session for current fifth-grade students and their families on Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Opened in 2007, WSE serves students in grades 6–13 and offers an honors-level curriculum with a strong emphasis on collaboration and innovation. Through a partnership with Wayne Community College, students have the opportunity to earn a two-year associate degree while completing high school coursework.
The Wayne Early/Middle College High School (WEMCHS) will host two information sessions for current eighth-grade students and their families on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 6 p.m. and again on Tuesday, Feb. 10, in the Wayne Community College auditorium. Established in 2006, WEMCHS serves grades 9–13 and is located on the campus of Wayne Community College. Students can complete high school graduation requirements while earning a two-year associate degree or college transfer credits at no cost for tuition or textbooks. All high school courses are offered at the honors level, with students dually enrolled in both high school and college classes.
The Wayne School of Technical Arts (WSTA) will hold an information session for current fifth-grade students and their families on Thursday, Jan. 29, at 6 p.m. in the Meadow Lane Elementary School cafeteria. Opened in fall 2022, WSTA serves students in grades 6–12 and offers a STEM-focused education with an advanced curriculum. Students have opportunities to earn the AP Capstone Diploma endorsement and industry-recognized credentials in technical arts fields. The school is located on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and is open to both military-connected and non-military-connected students.
Families who are unable to attend an information session are encouraged to contact the schools directly for additional details.
